Born from Sensitivity

I’m Laura Dahlqvist, an artist and creative entrepreneur based in Helsinki, Finland. I create layered, atmospheric paintings where abstract expression, nature, and quiet moments come together.

Ever since childhood, I have experienced the world around me deeply. I’m drawn to soft light, natural colours, small details, and passing moments that can be difficult to put into words. This sensitivity is at the heart of my art and the way I approach each painting.

Painting first became a way for me to process emotions I could not express through words. Over time, it grew into a way of making my inner world visible. Many of my paintings still begin with a feeling, memory, or atmosphere that I cannot fully explain when I start. I work intuitively, building each piece layer by layer and allowing it to find its own direction along the way.

Textures, softness, natural colours, and moments where time seems to slow down often appear in my work. Alongside abstract forms, a familiar shape from nature may begin to emerge – a bird, an animal, or the feeling of a landscape. I’m especially interested in the space between something recognisable and something left open to the viewer’s own interpretation.

Through my art, I want to create space to pause and feel. Rather than telling one complete story, I create paintings that leave room for the viewer to find something personal – perhaps a memory, a sense of longing, calm, or connection.

I work actively from Helsinki, and my art has been shown in exhibitions around the Helsinki area. My available work includes original paintings and limited-edition fine art prints, signed by hand.
